"The Alchemy of Education: Conjuring a Future with Technology and Empathy" is not just a keynote at ASPAC 2024; it is an experience that melds the marvel of magic with the potential of technology in the realm of education. My journey as a founder in EdTech has shown me that to teach effectively, we must not only transfer knowledge but also captivate imaginations and nurture empathy. In this session, I will share how empathetic education powered by technology can break barriers and foster a deeper understanding of science.

We will explore the 'LINK' between science literacy and societal inclusion, discussing how technology can be leveraged to not only educate but also to inspire and engage all demographics. Just as a magician uses his tools to create a sense of wonder, educators can use technology to spark a love for learning and discovery.

To bring this concept to life, I will interweave a live magic performance into my talk, demonstrating the seamless connection between the awe inspired by magic and the transformative impact of technology in education. This act will serve as a metaphor for how educators can utilize technology to create engaging and inclusive learning experiences that resonate on a universal level.

The aim of this keynote is to ignite a conversation about the future of science education—a future where technology and empathy coexist to create an inclusive, engaging, and inspiring learning environment. It's a future where education transcends boundaries, much like the timeless art of magic, and where every learner is given a front-row seat to the spectacle of science.

LEE Daehyung received his Master’s in Curatorial Studies from Columbia University. Lee organized

numerous prominent projects including the Korean Eye at Saatchi Gallery in London, and Curatorial Exchange Forum in MoMA, NY, served as the Founding Art Director for Hyundai Motor Company from 2013 to 2019, and as the Art Director for the 2017 Venice Biennale. Under his leadership, he led the success of CONNECT, BTS- a global public art project exhibited in five cities including Seoul, New York, London, Berlin and Buenos Aires- by collaborating with 22 experimental artists. Lee has extensive experience in executing exhibitions and partnerships with world renowned museums such as TATE, LACMA, Serpentine Gallery, Martin Gropius Bau, ZKM, and New Museum etc., and is currently on the board of directors for Nam June Paik Cultural Foundation.
