Welcome Message:

Hyungju Han,

ASPAC 2024 Gwacheon National Science Museum Director

Greetings to all esteemed member states and personnel of the 2024 Asia Pacific Network of Science and Technology Centres.

The Gwacheon National Science Museum has come to host the second ASPAC conference held in South Korea followed by  ‘ASPAC 2013’ that took place in the National Science Museum. Our museum being an all-round science museum representing the country was first established in November of 2008. We have acquired our reputation as a public-friendly museum displaying exhibits of fields such as basic science, cutting edge technology, traditional science and natural history along with hosting various science-culture events.

After the conclusion of the prolonged COVID-19 pandemic, it has already been a joyous journey preparing an in-person event serving 72 organisations from 20 different countries. At the same time, we sense that our responsibility to host a fruitful academic event for the participants is significant.

This event will be one to strengthen the mutual understandings and cooperative bonds of the science centres  across the Asian Pacific region, share scientific technology and expertise, and enable global networking through the growing influence of ‘K-Science Culture’.

This year’s theme is “Communicate with Empathy!”. As pioneers connecting individuals and communities, even further, connecting the world, we will be placing the spotlight on the role of science centres as communicators handling literacy, inclusion, networking, and ‘K-Science Culture’ from September 3rd to September 7th at the Gwacheon National Science Museum.

Our programs mainly consist of CEO forums, keynote session, call of papers, science show, science marketplace, special speech and session, and post tours with roughly 600 expected participants from science centres and related organisations across the globe.

Our museum will be devoted to the maximum and push the best of our abilities for the sake of a successful event and moreover pledge to take our duty of leading a science centre in the Asian Pacific region in a more than serious manner.

We would like to express our gratitude to everybody joining ‘ASPAC 2024’ and we look forward to all participants taking home cherishable memories at the Gwacheon National Science Museum–where curiosity and creativity thrives.

Thank you.
